Another One of Those Days...

Our playgroups' much-anticipated Halloween carnival was scheduled for this morning. Unfortunately, the 40+ mph winds we experienced this morning were not at all conducive to our planned carnival festivities, so the event has been rescheduled to Thursday. Hopefully, the gracious wind gods will be more merciful in two days.

With the unexpected free time, the boys and I met up with my best friend and her daughter at Superfranks. We spent a fantastic afternoon exploring every nook and cranny of that exciting place.

My favorite favorite part of the day, aside from chatting with my BFF over a pizza lunch, was the arrival of my (or rather, Liam's) 'Teething Bling'. I've had my eye on these since Mikey was a baby, but time went by much too quickly and I never had the chance to get one for him. I ordered one from Smart Mom Jewelry last week. The style I got was on sale for half price, only for this month. Plus, if you google for coupon codes, you'll find one for 20% off!!! It worked out great because I had my eye on either Coral or Turquoise. Half price?? Coral it is!!!Liam has taken to it very well. Even after a huge dinner of turkey, vegetables and rice, as evidenced by the globs of orange all around his mouth and nose, he was quite happy to nibble on this exciting new piece of jewelry that mama has donned. After he broke a second necklace, I decided I needed to think of SOMETHING. But, apparently, someone else already thought of that 'something'.

My other favorite favorite part of the day are the Cookie Jars that Isaiah and I made for his teachers.
I got the idea from the blog called Living Locurto; lots of great creative ideas for people like me, who can't think up an idea if my life depended on it. Instead of using craft paper to decorate the lid, I slipped a thin square of fabric between the collar and lid before screwing them onto the jar. They came out so stinkin' cute, I LOVE THEM!!!! You can probably catch a glimpse of my little helper in the background, who worked terribly hard at cutting and punching the paper for me. So much fun!

Welcome to the Family, Jordan!

We carved our first pumpkin for this year! The design was drawn by Shawn, as dictated by Isaiah, then cut by moi. That's why the left eye looks 'lazy', as Shawn called it. Don't worry, I fixed it after I took this picture. :)

Isaiah and the pumpkin hit it off instantly. Isaiah even named him Jordan. Rather quickly, Jordan has become an integral part of our family. He watches tv on the rug with Isaiah. He sits on the counter and watches us as we have dinner. He sits on the table and makes sure Isaiah does his homework correctly. And so on.....One day, Isaiah even asked me if we had a carseat for this new family member of ours. Umm, no.

Pumpkins Like To Wear Costumes, Too!

The pumpkins at our house are dressed up as kitty cats! We've had our pumpkins for a few weeks now and, since we won't be carving them until later this week, they've been looking quite blah. These kitty cat masks are the perfect pick-me-up that they needed to hold them over until we begin our ultimate makeover on them later this week. :)

Talk about Heebie Jeebies

I love that the kids are excited about Halloween and we've definitely made it a big deal this year with decorating the house inside and out. But, I must say, these little plastic spider critters have been keeping me on my toes for the past few days. I find them everywhere and see them in my peripheral vision, and each time, it never fails to startle me! I can't wait to collect them and put them away...until next year! :)
