28 feels great

tuesday was my 28th birthday. whoohoo. it was a wonderful day spent home and i enjoyed every single moment of it. i tried to get snaps of things throughout the day, but i wish i took more, as usual. here is my day in pictures...

i know this won't seem like a big deal to many, but for us this is HUGE. for at least six months now, we have been trying to teach him to wave good-bye and hello and he never did. it was getting quite discouraging, i must say. we would say "hi!" or "ba-bye" while waving and hope he would wave back. and nothing. finally, on tuesday, his teacher said "wave ba-bye!" and HE DID. eeeeeeeeek!!!!!...i was beyond ecstatic and his teacher and i were bouncing off the walls. who knew just adding "wave" to the command would make a light bulb turn on in his head. oh, sweet liam, what i would give to see what's going on in that brain of yours. i hope you know that you made my birthday.

after liam's teacher left, i fell asleep on the couch. then the doorbell rang. and rang and rang and rang. i jumped up from the sofa thinking...geez. only my dad rings the doorbell like that. lo and behold, it was my dad, sister and brother on the other side of the door bearing a cake a beautiful flowers. their surprise visit just  double made my day!

yeah, your eyes are not deceiving you. the cake says "happy birthday tingkay". that nickname was coined by my brother when i was born and it has stuck. stuck like glue, sadly. i used to be embarrassed by it, but now i really love it and appreciate it. it's a part of me and makes me unique!

just because it's my birthday, it was still like any other day in most ways. dinner still had to be made so i had thrown it all in the crock pot that morning. we enjoyed some random kitchen sink chicken dish made with everything but the kitchen sink! it actually came out really good. and it was enjoyed with a couple of bottles of great wine gifted to us by my sister in law. i've held onto them for a "special occasion" and finally decided that my birthday was deserving of them. :)

 and here is the delicious black forest cake that my wonderful hubby came home with. it was delicious!

hmm..28 doesn't seem much different from 27. the mister asked me what i wanted for my birthday and i honestly could not think of a single thing. and i don't even feel like i need anything anymore. everything i could ever need and want, i have right here with me every single day.
