embrace the camera ~ july 14

our baby mikey is a baby no more! he celebrated his 4th birthday a few weeks ago and enjoyed a super fun surfer theme party with friends and family.

on the actual day of his birthday, though, our little big family {plus auntie tracey and auntie yung} celebrated at an oakland a's game! cotton candy, ice cream, popcorn and baseball. what more can could a just-turned-four-years-old boy ask for!?

here we are embracing the camera on mikey's special day.

how are you embracing the camera this week? go 'head and link up with the anderson crew...you know you want to!

shirts are overrated

at least, that's what my boys think.
they love to run around the house shirtless and i'm a-ok with that. it just means less laundry for me to have to deal with!

back at it!

the last time I ran a 5k was before I became preggers with wyatt, so almost two years ago. I was so excited to get back into running again...there's just something therapeutic in the feeling of my feet hitting the pavement. I worked for about a month on getting my endurance back up and went for it. I ran with my stepsister, Jessica.

I chose a run that was on the day that would have been my mother's 64th birthday (she went to heaven 9 years ago) and it was refreshing to have some emotional motivation.

it probably would have been a good idea to have done some trail running and inclines before this race. those hills were definitely a challenge and running on uneven trails was also new to me. i know, i'm crazy! Y\you wouldn't believe how many times i slipped on an acorn and almost face planted into the dirt. almost. it was a hard run but i managed and had a ton of fun while at it. i actually think that i now prefer running on trails over pavement.

my little men were waiting for me at the finish. those faces were all I needed!

crossing the finish and getting my medal.

oh, what a feeling! what's next? i'm training for the cinderella 10k in august, which is another trail run through the oakland hills. and, as long as i can keep my training on track, i can be ready for a half marathon by the end of the year or early 2012!

i love the feeling of setting a goal for myself and reaching it!

miss me?

it's been quiet over in these here parts lately. we took a little vacay over the long holiday weekend and much of it was spent by the pool...

where there was a whole lotta this going on...

and a whole lotta cannonballing...

and a whole lotta yummy drink consumption which was accompanied with a whole lotta brain freeze.
 {i promise the kids' drinks were virgins.}

and even some movie watching by the pool.

who in their right mind would blog during all this relaxing?

we've been home a few days and i still haven't gotten back into my groove yet. there's laundry to be done, a house to be cleaned and i can't seem to get back into cloth diapering, either. we used disposables all weekend for the first time in, well, forever. i forgot how much easier it is.  but once this pack from the trip runs out...it'll be back to the fluffy, cloth bums over here.
